Remains of woman believed to have been killed by croc in Peking Tinjar river found

The deceased's remains was found by local villagers intact after she was believed to have been attacked by a crocodile while bathing in the river.

KUCHING, April 3: The body of a 38-year-old woman who was reportedly attacked by a crocodile while bathing in the Peking Tinjar river in Miri recently has been found by local villagers today.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation center in a statement today, the discovery of the woman’s body has ended the two-day search and rescue (SAR) operation.

“The deceased’s remains were found at 10.30am by the local villagers, about 100 meters from the Bomba operation control post,” it said.


The statement explained that the victim’s body was found intact, with only visible injuries seen on the right arm and right eyebrow.

“The body was later handed over to the police for further action,” it added.

On April 2, the victim, Runyan Anak Tempan, 38, was reportedly snatched by a crocodile while taking a bath together with her children in the Peking Tinjar river at around 11.30am, near Rumah Mathis Depa.

A team of firefighters from Lopeng fire station led by PBK II Ellai Bidang was immediately deployed to the location. DayakDaily.
