Public parks allowed to open; sports activities permissible subject to Youth & Sports Ministry

KUCHING, July 13: Public parks in Sarawak are allowed to open under Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) effective July 14.

Non-contact recreational activities and sports such as jogging, cycling, golf, light exercises and other similar activities are also permitted.

According to guidelines of State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) the above activities however must be carried out in compliance with sports and recreation standard operating procedures (SOP) issued by Ministry of Youth and Sports Sarawak (KBSS).


Individuals and team categories for the purpose of training activities, games, matches and tournaments are allowed, also subject to the approval by KBSS and notification to SDMC.

Organisation of non-contact sports, be it local and international tournaments or competitions are also permissible and again subject to the approval from KBSS.

Though such sports event may be organised, no spectators however, are allowed during these events.

Admission of foreign participants and officers into Malaysia will also be subject to the Malaysian Immigration Department with a letter of support from KBSS and notification to SDMC. — DayakDaily
