KUCHING, July 13: Restrictions on the number of passengers permitted in vehicles have been lifted and all industrial and economic activities are permitted to operate from 6am to 10pm according the latest standard operating procedures (SOPs) laid down by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) which comes into effect tomorrow.

With Sarawak moving from Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) to Phase 2, there will be no restriction on the number of passengers allowed in a vehicle which means the number of passengers in any vehicle will depend on the capacity of the vehicle itself.

Activities allowed under Phase 2 include buying or acquiring of daily essentials, food and services, seeking of treatment or purchasing of medicine, carrying out official duties and going for vaccination.

Meanwhile, inter-district and inter-state movements are still prohibited under Phase 2 if there are no permits from the police.

For those who must cross districts, a police permit must be obtained while those who need to undertake inter-state travel must apply for permits from SDMC via the Enter Sarawak app and submit their Health Information Declaration.

High-risk individuals are discouraged from leaving their homes while children aged 13 and below are not allowed to go to pubic, open and crowded areas without reasonable excuse under Phase 2 of the NRP.

All movement from and into an area placed under an Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) is also not allowed unless a police permit is obtained. — DayakDaily
