KUCHING, Dec 6: Describing the new Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeo as experienced and popular, Sarawak’s Youth and Sports Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah calls on Federal ministers to remember the needs of Sarawak and Sabah.

Abdul Karim said this at the press conference after the ‘Unveiling of Sarawak Tourism’s Next General Digital Platform’ programme organised by Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching today.

“Hannah is a very experienced lady, very well-accepted. She was among one of those who managed to get the highest votes. That means people like her and i believe she will be a good youth and sports minister. We will see.

“It is our hope that whoever become the Federal ministers in whatever capacity, always remember in Malaysia they have got two other big States in Borneo. Don’t (confine) all the activities in Peninsular Malaysia,” said Abdul Karim when asked by the media of his expectation of Yeoh.

He said many Federal ministers from Peninsular Malaysia tend to forget the existence of Sarawak and Sabah and focus only on Peninsular Malaysia.

“A lot of our Federal ministers, I am not saying the ones coming from Sabah and Sarawak, those from West Malaysia, when it comes to programmes, activities, visitations, they only know West Malaysia.

“They forget about Sarawak and Sabah, sometimes perhaps they are shy to come here. So don’t be that way, you will always be welcome.

“If Hannah wants to come to Sarawak, she is most welcome. We will be very happy,” said Abdul Karim.

Also present were STB chairman Dennis Ngau, who is also Telang Usan assemblyman, Sarawak Tourism permanent secretary Datu Hii Chang Kee and STB CEO Shanzede Salleh Askor. — DayakDaily
