Public invited to Gawai Dayak open house hosted by Deputy Premier, 16 Dayak leaders on June 1 at BCCK

KUCHING, May 29: Deputy Premier of Sarawak Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and 16 other Dayak leaders will be hosting a Gawai Dayak open house at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on June 1, from 10am to 4pm.

Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Datin Patinggi Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang are expected to grace the event at 11.30am.

The Gawai open house is open to the public.

Among the 16 Dayak leaders involved in organising the event are Malaysian Minister of Works Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi; Sarawak Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom; Minister in the Premier’s Department Datuk John Sikie Tayai; and Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong.

Others are Sarawak deputy ministers namely Deputy Minister for Transport Sarawak I (Aviation and Road) Datuk Dr Jerip Susil; Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts II (Creative Industry and Performing Arts) Datuk Snowdan Lawan; Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development II (Port Development) Dato Majang Renggi; Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication (Telecommunication) Datuk Liwan Lagang; Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) Datuk Gerawat Gala; Deputy Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh; Deputy Minister of Transport (Maritime and Riverine) Dato Henry Harry Jinep; Deputy Minister for Youth, Sport and Entrepreneurship Development, Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu; Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development II (Talent Development) Datuk Francis Harden Hollis; Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government I (Public Health and Housing) Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil; Deputy Minister in Premier’s Department (Native Customs and Law) Jefferson Jamit Unyat; and Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development (Commodity and Regional Development) Maclaine@Martin Ben.

Meanwhile, on June 7, Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as well as Abang Johari and Juma’ani are expected to grace the State-level Gawai Dayak celebration dinner at the same venue. — DayakDaily
