KUCHING, Nov 11: The Sarawak government is considering reviewing allowances given to Al-Quran and Fardu Ain class (Kafa) teachers in the State.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the Sarawak government would work with Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (Jais) to discuss the matter.

“Perhaps in the future, we will have our own system to give allowances to Kafa teachers, including teachers trained at institutions recognised by the government.

“So let’s all pray that Sarawak’s fund will increase and able to increase the allowance from the Federal government to Kafa teachers,” he said during the Islamic Youth Randau Programme session held at Sarawak Islamic Complex Hall here today.

Abang Johari said the Sarawak government is also planning to establish an Islamic Faculty in Sarawak’s local universities.

He added it is his plan based on a full-time private Islamic study institution in Singapore, the Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah. — DayakDaily
