KUCHING, Aug 8: The federal government has agreed to allow only prayer activities in mosques and suraus for congregants who have received complete vaccinations.

In announcing this, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said congregants present to perform prayers must show the mosque and surau staff a digital certificate of Covid-19 vaccination which shows that the individual has received a complete vaccination.

“Mosques and suraus need to ensure standard operating procedures (SOP) related to public health protocols such as wearing face masks, physical distancing and also ensure that the congregation proceeds to return home after prayers.

“This apply to all phases of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) beginning Tuesday (Aug 10),” he said when announcing the facilities for individuals who had completed Covid 19 vaccination in an RTM livestream via Facebook today.

Muhyiddin also said a similar facility is provided to non-Muslims to attend houses of worship.

“The implementation of this facility is subject to the State Religious Authority and the Ministry of National Unity for Houses of Worship Other than Islam,” he added. — DayakDaily
