Police cripple Miri motorcycle theft gang

MIRI, Feb 29: Police here have crippled the ‘Supri’ gang, whose members were believed to be actively involved in stealing motorcycles in Tudan area for the past one month, following the arrest of three gang members early this (Feb 29) morning.

Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah confirmed that the arrests were made in two separate raids.


“The first two suspects were picked up from an unnumbered wooden house adjacent to Kuala Batu 1 landfill, while the third suspect, who was the mastermind, was detained in a house at Lorong Piasau Utara 1C.

“The suspects are aged between 28 and 34 year-old. The mastermind has four criminal records,” he said.

The group’s latest activity prior to the arrest was stealing a motorcycle in Tudan on Feb 20.

Its modus operandi was to steal, dismantle and sell the motorcycles’ parts to their potential buyers for prices ranging from RM400 to RM500.

The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for motorcycle thefts.— DayakDaily
