PN govt to provide better healthcare system to the people

PUTRAJAYA, March 1: The Perikatan Nasional (PN) government will upgrade the country’s healthcare system, revealed Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

In view of the Covid-19 pandemic which has put the country’s healthcare system on the brink of breaking down, he said the government has started to implement a holistic study on the whole healthcare system in efforts to better deal with future situation that could put the country’s healthcare system under tremendous pressure.

“The study is divided into two phases which include projection and the measures that are needed to be taken until 2030.

“The first phase which is being conducted now is aimed at looking at the objective and steps which are needed to be taken to strengthen the existing system.

“In the second phase, a detailed action plan on the steps which are needed to be taken to achieve a sustainable healthcare system will be produced,” he said during a special address on the first anniversary of the PN government called ‘Setahun Malaysia Prihatin’ here today.

Muhyiddin noted the Covid-19 pandemic which occurred worldwide has exposed several gaps which existed in the current healthcare system.

He added the increase of non-communicable diseases (NCD) among the people, access to health facilities for certain groups of people and the ability of the current healthcare system to deal with infectious diseases has provided many challenges for the government to solve them.

Hence, Muhyiddin said the Health Ministry will strive to provide better healthcare and services to the people in the future. — DayakDaily
