KUCHING, April 18: Sarawak Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders and Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim met in a closed-door meeting yesterday in Kuching, during the latter’s visit to the city.

According to a statement issued by Sarawak PH head of information Senator Abun Sui Anyit, among the issues raised and answered by the Prime Minister were those pertaining to the Unity Government, which the latter stated is still solid and has strong support.

During the meeting, Sarawak PH chairman Chong Chieng Jen reaffirmed the party’s commitment to always strongly support Anwar’s leadership as Prime Minister until the conclusion of the 15th Parliament’s term.

“He (Anwar) also took note of Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak’s stance, particularly at the State government-level in Sarawak, which is to be the opposition at the State-level, and (the Prime Minister) respects that stance.

“The Prime Minister is also aware of the needs of Sarawak PH and will consider the recommendations presented to him including giving leave without record to the Dayak children of Sarawak in Peninsular Malaysia who celebrate Hari Gawai every year.

“Sarawak PH was asked to continue to help strengthen the Unity Government with the concept of ‘Malaysia Madani’ to all corners of Sarawak,” Abun Sui said in the statement.

He also stated that the meeting with Anwar concluded with Sarawak PH affirming it would continue to contribute to the Unity Government’s stability.

State component party leaders from DAP, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) were present at the meeting, which was Anwar’s first meeting as national PH chairman with PH leadership at the Sarawak-level for the whole of Malaysia since being appointed prime minister.
