Petronas refurbishes SK Sungai Sengian Labang in Sebauh, contributes medical equipment to BDDMC

KUCHING, Nov 1: Students in SK Sungai Sengian Labang in Sebauh can now enjoy a comfortable learning environment after the school’s facilities have been upgraded by Petronas under its community outreach programme.

Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd in a statement today said, the school, which have 102 students, is now equipped with basic facilities such as LCD smart television, alarm bell, new public announcement system, ceiling fans, air conditioning units, steel bookcases for its library, printers, photocopy machines, desktop computers and a new security guard house.

The upgrading project for the facilities were sponsored and undertaken by PETRONAS’ subsidiary Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd (MLNG) from November 2020 to February 2021.


A ceremony to mark the successful completion of the school upgrading project was held in Bintulu today and was officiated by Minister of Utilities Sarawak Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom together with the presence of MLNG Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Syazwan Abdullah @ Laga Jenggi, and Resident of Bintulu Datu Jack Aman Luat.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mohamed Syazwan said, at MLNG, they have always understood that education is the key to a better future.

“Therefore, we hope the improved facilities provided by MLNG will create a more conducive environment that will motivate and inspire the students to learn,” he said.

During the ceremony, MLNG also contributed RM583,800 worth of medical equipment to the Bintulu Division Disaster Management Committee (BDDMC) to increase the efficiency of Covid-19 treatment in Bintulu.

Mohamed Syazwan said these equipment include mobile digital radiography, handheld ultrasound, electrocardiogram machine, vital sign monitor, infusion pump and syringe pump.

“Importantly, this contribution will boost Bintulu Hospital’s capacity to treat up to 800 patients monthly compared to 662 patients previously.

“We would like to thank the front-liners for their dedication and sacrifice in the fight against Covid-19. We hope our contribution will help to facilitate optimal care for the Covid-19 patients here. We remain committed to be part of the ongoing effort in mitigating the spread of Covid-19 in Bintulu,” he added.

Previously, Petronas subsidiaries in Bintulu collectively contributed medical and food supplies to front-liners and quarantine centres, including Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) machines to the Bintulu Division Disaster Management Committee (BDDMC), 15 laptops for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (Pick) in Bintulu, Tatau and Sebauh districts, reagent test kits to Bintulu Hospital, as well as school supplies and personal hygiene kits to primary school students. — DayakDaily.
