BAU, Oct 13: Pesta Tasik Biru (TSB) is making a comeback and is scheduled to be held from Oct 27 to 29, with a plethora of activities already in the pipeline.

Entering its 17th edition, the festival, formerly known as Jong Regatta, will also see international participants from Great Britain, Singapore, Brunei, and Indonesia taking part in road races (cycling) and blowpipe competitions.

During a press conference at Bau District Council today to announce the event, Deputy Minister of Transport, Dato Henry Harry Jinep, expressed his delight at the overwhelming response received for this year’s event.

“This year’s event, which will run for three days and serve as a platform for local socio-economic activities, has garnered very encouraging responses from the locals,” Henry said.

To illustrate the enthusiasm, Henry pointed out that there are already 40 food stalls available, with many more in the queue.

He further mentioned that there will be two stages for TSB 2023, compared to just one stage in previous years.

“During the three-day event, traditional performances from the Bidayuh, Chinese, and Malay communities, as well as invited local artists and bands, will be featured,” added Henry, who is also the Tasik Biru assemblyman.

Notable local artists set to perform include Claudia Geres, Timothy and Winnie Albert, and local Mandarin artist Voon Ngat Jan.

The highlight of TSB 2023, according to Henry, will be the Miss Tasik Biru competition, and a water safety program by Bomba will be conducted on October 28 at Tasik Biru.

Bau District Officer Constantine Gerald David Jonas was also present at the press conference. ā€” DayakDaily
