KUCHING, April 16: Parti Sedar Rakyat, which is in the process of rebranding to Parti Wawasan Rakyat, has welcomed the federal government’s decision to transfer the implementation of RM3.47 billion rural water supply projects to the Sarawak government, describing it as a constructive move to enhance delivery effectiveness.

Its president Affendi Jeman said the decision reflects Putrajaya’s willingness to improve project implementation in Sarawak, with greater emphasis on efficiency, execution, and tangible impact on the ground.

“For the people of Sarawak, what matters most is not merely the size of allocations, but how quickly and effectively projects are completed and delivered to improve their daily lives,” he said in a press statement.

He added that the move also demonstrates confidence in the Sarawak government’s ability to carry out projects in a manner that is more responsive to local needs.

“This is a positive step that reflects a more mature federal–State partnership. The priority now must be to ensure that every project is delivered to the people with quality and within the expected timeframe,” he said.

Affendi further stressed that such a collaborative approach should be strengthened and potentially expanded to other sectors, particularly rural development, to ensure public spending translates into tangible outcomes.

“Ultimately, what matters is results. Every development initiative must be measured by its impact on the people,” he added. — DayakDaily
