Pelawan rep urges CM to preserve democracy amid political jostling

SIBU, Feb 28: Sarawak DAP urges Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Openg not to cut any political deals with certain parties in the latest political saga affecting the nation.

Deputy chairman David Wong trusted that Abang Johari would use his wisdom to stop the political saga that is happening now to “save our democracy and protect our people.”

He wanted the chief minister to say “No” to any parties out to destroy the country through undemocratic means in its effort to topple the duly elected government of Pakatan Harapan.

He said it would be similar to saying no to forming a backdoor government in Sarawak if such an incident happened in the future.

“The 18 members of parliament of GPS is a force that can do the good to stop the country’s democracy decays further or be a part of the conspiracy to usurp power in a backdoor government without the mandate of the people,” he continued.

“While our country has slowly regained traction on economic recovery and regain the national dignity after replacing the previous regime which has been labelled as a kleptocracy nation, and while we are facing a global threat of Covid-19, those few traitors of PH together with Umno and Pas put their interests above those of our people and our country to try to topple the democratically elected government of PH,” he said.

He said although Sarawak could not cut itself off from the national political developments, it could be the rock to protect the people, preserve democracy and uphold the constitution. —DayakDaily
