KUCHING, July 16: Limbang Farmers Association (PPK) has conducted a “Peladang Prihatin” programme in efforts to help the local farmers by purchasing their products and distributing them to the frontliners.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang said this is the fifth edition of such a programme which was held in Limbang to show appreciation to the frontliners who are working at the Covid-19 vaccination centres (PPVs) in the district.

“The project is run by the Department of Agriculture through the Limbang Farmers Association using the funds from the Sarawak government, whereby PPK will purchase the farmers’ produce or products to be distributed to the PPV frontliners for free.

“Apart from that, this method also helps the local farmers who are not able to sell their products or produce during the pandemic,” he said when met by reporters after distributing the farmers’ products to the frontliners in Medamit and Batu Danau PPVs, on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, as of Wednesday, a total of 2,760 individuals have successfully been vaccinated with the first dose of the vaccine, while 2,080 individuals have been inoculated with the second dose in Medamit PPV, and another 680 individuals will be receiving their vaccination in the following three days of the vaccination programme.

In Batu Danau PPV, a total of 4,003 individuals have received their first dose, while 1,884 individuals have successfully been inoculated with the second dose. — DayakDaily
