KUCHING, Feb 9: Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) president Datuk Larry Sng believes that getting smaller parties and supporters of the unity government together to form a bloc will give them an advantage over other parties and strengthen their positions.

Sng stated today on his Facebook page that parties such as PBM, Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda), Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM), and independent friendly Members of Parliament (MPs) should meet this coming parliamentary session to discuss working as a bloc.

“Smaller parties and supporters of the unity government, like PBM, Muda, KDN, and independent friendly MPs, should sit down together this coming parliamentary sitting to discuss about working as a bloc.

“Politics is a numbers game and we need to consolidate our strength in order to remain relevant,” he said.

PBM has Sng as its MP for Julau, Muda has Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman as its MP for Muar, and KDM has two MPs, Wetrom Bahanda for Kota Marudu and Riduan Rubin for Tenom.

During the 15th general election (GE15) on Nov 19, 2022, Sng successfully defended P209 Julau with a majority of 1,340 votes, seeing off his closest rival former Julau MP and also Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum.

Garnering 9,159 votes against Salang’s 7,819 votes, Sng put a stop to his old rival’s comeback in the Iban-majority seat. — DayakDaily
