PBK president: Louder voices calling for Sarawak’s independence

Voon Lee Shan

KUCHING, Sept 8:  Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) president Voon Lee Shan claims that there are louder voices calling for Sarawak’s independence.

“Voices are louder each day that people from Sabah and Sarawak want to be independent and no more wish to be subservient to Malaya.

“Many legal experts and politicians are of the opinion that Sabah and Sarawak are indeed colonies of Malaya from the beginning Malaysia came into existence,” said Voon in a press statement yesterday.

He further claimed that the formation of Malaysia is riddled with mysteries with many secrets gone to the graves.

“It was shocking to know there is no evidence that I could find to allow Tunku (Tunku Abdul Rahman) to proclaim to the world the formation of Malaysia after Malaysia Agreement 1963 was signed.

“How Tunku was entrusted or been given the authority to proclaim the formation of Malaysia should not be hidden under the carpet or be buried in the graves.

“This is because young and old people who are still alive, need to know because it is a grave injustice and a great injury to carry this mystery to the graves without knowing the truth how and what made Tunku been given the authority to declare the formation of Malaysia.”

The other mystery he raised was how Tunku became the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

“Another mystery is that when Malaysia came into existence, what made Tunku became the Prime Minister of Malaysia?

“What made Tunku having the authority to become the Prime Minister of Malaysia and not people like Lee Kuan Yew or (Tan Sri) Stephen Kalong Ningkan?

“I could not find that there was an agreement from Singapore, Sabah and Sarawak to make Tunku the Prime minister at that time.”

He said there was no election at that time to make it possible for Tunku to become the Prime Minister.

“The federal government should not anymore hide the truth because these doubts will spur people of Sabah and Sarawak to be anti-Malaya.

“Prime Minister Dr Mahathir (Mohamad) should not blame Sabahans and Sarawakians for not celebrating the coming Malaysia Day in joyous mood because too many Sabahans and Sarawakians are of the opinions that they are outcasts in Malaysia.

“Young generations are kept in the dark how Sabah and Sarawak could become subservient to Malaya in many ways.

“Singapore, Sabah and Sarawak were supposed to be equal partners and equal status when Malaysia was formed but it was evident that Singapore, Sabah and Sarawak was acquired as territories of Malaya.”

He said many legal experts and politicians had voiced their concern that Sabah and Sarawak are “colonies” of Malaya. — DayakDaily
