KUCHING, Sept 3: The evergreen logo of Pas will help to ensure steady votes, compared to GPS’ logo which has never been used in any previous elections.
Sarawak Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (Pas) Youth chief Hamdan Sani in a statement today opined that GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) had to realise that their party logo was still new compared to Pas’ logo, and the votes gained by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) previously was because of the Barisan Nasional (BN) logo, not GPS logo.
“PAS is aware that GPS acknowledged the strength of Pas in some seats in Sarawak, such as Beting Maro.
“As such, there is a need for cooperation between GPS and Pas, including Bersatu (Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia) in a constituency seat, where it is unfavorable for GPS to win it, in order to prevent it from falling into the opposition hands.”
According to Hamdan, the Sarawak Pas Commissioner was calling for a special committee to be formed at the governmental or party level between GPS, Bersatu and PAS, and for GPS to give a few seats to PAS and Bersatu.
“GPS should fully support the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration, not just an independent partner without any formal ties, because a fragile political cooperation can disrupt the nation’s political stability. Big parties such as GPS should face the political reality nowadays.” — DayakDaily
