Padungan One Stop Centre issues quarantine order only to genuine close contact cases of Covid-19 patients

KUCHING, May 24:  Covid-19 One Stop Centre, Padungan here will only issue quarantine order to those who are genuine close contact cases of Covid-19 patients.

According to a infographic statement issued by the One Stop Centre today, it will only issue quarantine order to those who are of genuine cases of Covid-19 close contacts as identified by investigating officers based on the guideline of the Health Ministry.

“Not all who have gone for Covid-19 screening will receive a quarantine order.

“Quarantine order counter of One Stop Centre is being flooded with cases who are not close contacts of Covid-19 patients, resulting in congestion at the counter,” said One Stop Centre.

It appealed for cooperation from those who have volunteered for screening at the centre.

The Covid-19 One Stop Centre which was set up by Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) for Kuching District at Dewan Masyarakat MBKS started to operate from May 3, 2021.

According to SDMC advisor Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, the centre which is the command centre for Kuching District to fight Covid-19, aims at improving coordination of more than 15 agencies from federal and State governments to manage Covid-19 situation in Kuching.

It provides the services of screening and swabbing, apart from being a Covid-19 assess centre to analyse those coming for screening.

It also investigates and performs contact tracing to control the spread the pandemic and to be a Helpdesk or hotlines to answer queries from the public.

The One Stop Centre also retrieves positive cases and issue quarantine order apart from carrying out enforcement relating to Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Since its operation, the One Stop Centre which provides drive-thru Covid-19 swab service has been receiving overwhelming number of swab samples causing the health officers assigned there to work until late at night.

Recently, eight health officers passed out due to heat stroke and high turn-out for Covid-19 screening. — DayakDaily
