KUCHING, Dec 8: Opposition parties can only do so much by criticising Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) for they have no track record of developing Sarawak, says Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Even during Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) administration in the federal government, he said, many development projects in Sarawak were either cancelled or had their allocations withdrawn.

On the other hand, he said, GPS which comprises multi-racial leadership in the State will continue to be committed to ensure policies implemented can benefit the people with not one Sarawakian being left out.

“GPS has laid the foundation for strategic development to ensure the continued progress of Sarawak. Efforts to develop Sarawak will only be realised if GPS continues to be given the mandate to form the leadership of Sarawak through the 12th State Election.

“The future of Sarawak lies in the hands of the people of Sarawak. We are developing Sarawak with our own mould and only we can ensure that prosperity is enjoyed by the people of Sarawak,” he said during the launch of the GPS manifesto at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here today.

Abang Johari, who is also GPS president, said Sarawakians have the duty to elect a government that is caring and responsible in facing the challenges of the present and the future to ensure continued development and prosperity.

He thus urged the people not to gamble Sarawak’s future away by voting for a party that is unable to make good on the promises they made.

“Let us not mortgage our future by choosing a party that fails to meet the needs of the people of Sarawak and is unable to fulfill the promises made, and even deceives the people of Sarawak.

“Not to mention choosing a party that conspires with those who have failed to lead the country.”

After reading the 34-point manifesto, Abang Johari pledged that GPS with its experienced, competent, high integrity leadership and excellent track record will continue to provide the best service to the people of Sarawak.

“GPS needs the strong support of the people of Sarawak. Support and vote for GPS for a stable, prosperous and glorious Sarawak, to achieve a prosperous Sarawak by 2030,” he added.

During the event, Abang Johari also handed over the manifesto to GPS component parties namely Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP).

Representatives of respective component parties present were Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas (PBB), Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian (SUPP), Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum (PRS), and Dato Anthony Nogeh Gumbek (PDP). — DayakDaily
