SIBU, March 25: A new camp is being built for the 10th Battalion General Operations Force (GOF), says its Commanding Officer Supt Mohammad Hafiz Kadir.
The camp, he said is located in Jakar, Sarikei and is expected to be operational by 2025.
In revealing this to reporters after officiating at the 215th Police Day celebration today, Kadir added that the project is in the midst of construction.
“The project construction period is three years and will be completed the latest by 2025, when it is expected to be operational,” he said.
Hafiz said, although the GOF has a new camp, the existing Lanang Camp will not be abandoned.
“We are not leaving this camp as our personnel will still be stationed here,” he added.
Speaking on the success of the seizure carried out by GOF Sibu this year, he said, from Jan 1 to today (March 25) his team has managed to handle nine cases with an estimated seized value of RM2.9 million in Op Kontraban.
According to him, it was a seizure involving non-taxable liquor, alcohol and cigarettes including the seizure of timber.
“The logs are included in Op Kontraban. The number of individuals involved in the activity was 12 men,” he explained.
In the meantime, Hafiz said that his team will be involved in operations at State’s borders, namely around Sri Aman and Lubok Antu in conjunction with the opening of the national border from April 1.
“We are committed to sending personnel on duty at the border gates in Sri Aman and Lubok Antu as it is a sector of our administrative area under Ops Benteng Covid-19,” he added.
A total of 170 GOF members were involved in the 215th Police Day parade with 36 members including staff receiving certificates of appreciation.
