Sarawak Covid-19 cases down to 980, 3 new deaths today

KUCHING, March 25: The number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak has decreased to 980 today.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said among the 980, seven were in the serious categories.


There were 284 in Category 1, 689 in Category 2, one in Category 3, two in Category 4, and four in Category 5.

In terms of districts, Kuching remained the biggest contributor with 355 cases while Bintulu and Miri reported 116 and 100 cases, respectively.

Those with double-digit case numbers were Sibu (82), Samarahan (44), Serian (28), Bau (26), Sarikei (24), Sri Aman (20), Limbang (15), Kanowit (14), Subis (12), Mukah (11), and Betong (11).

Other districts with new infections included Pusa, Simunjan, Tanjung Manis, Meradong (9 each), Dalat, Matu (8 each), Saratok, Asajaya, Lubok Antu, Lawas (7 each), Tebedu (6), Lundu, Kapit, Kabong (5 each), Selangau (4), Julau, Daro (3 each), Pakan, Marudi, Song, Telang Usan (2 each), Beluru, Tatau, and Sebauh (1 each).

Only two districts, Belaga and Bukit Maboong registered zero new cases for the day.

Meanwhile, Sarawak recorded three new deaths due to Covid-19, with one each in Samarahan, Kuching, and Mukah.

The victims, aged 51 to 75, were all males and had illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease.
