KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30: The PN federal government is a caring and people-centric government.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin stressed that Perikatan Nasional (PN) will uphold the principle of caring for the people.

“For me personally as a leader, a good government must always be people-centric. The welfare of the people must be prioritised.

“Those who are struggling and weak will be assisted. That is the hallmark of a government which is people-centric.

“I would like to stress that PN is a people-centric government.

“I vow to uphold the principle of caring as the guidelines of the PN administration,” he said in his National Day address in conjunction with the 63rd National Day celebration tomorrow (August 31).

Muhyiddin explained that the principle has been translated into the economic stimulus packages which were announced by the federal government such as the ‘Bantuan Prihatin Nasional’ (National Care Assistance) economic stimulus package.

He added the principle of caring will also be translated into the upcoming Budget 2021 and whatever policies, initiatives and future economic stimulus packages.

Muhyiddin said although the federal government is facing a tough task due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the people’s welfare will not be neglected.

He added that Malaysia must also overcome challenges to become a developed nation whose success can be enjoyed by the people.

Thus, Muhyiddin said the people must defend the sovereignty of the nation and ensure that the country remains peaceful for the country to continue to progress, including each and every citizen earning sufficient income and better quality of life.

With the theme of ‘Malaysia Prihatin’ or ‘Malaysia Cares’ for this year’s National Day celebration, Muhyiddin urged all Malaysians to uphold the spirit of unity and care for one another. — DayakDaily
