KUCHING, March 19: Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has been urged to install speed bumps along Jalan Sungai Tapang to improve road safety.

Democratic Action Party’s (DAP) Michael Kong Feng Nian made the call in a statement today after receiving complaints from residents regarding vehicles excessively speeding along Jalan Sungai Tapang, which poses a hazard to homeowners and road users.

“I embarked on a door-to-door campaign with the support of residents to gather signatures for a petition aimed at urging MPP to install speed bumps along Jalan Sungai Tapang.

“This petition serves as a vital tool to raise awareness and rally the collective efforts of residents towards a common goal—the implementation of measures to curb speeding and ensure the safety of all road users.

“By coming together and voicing our concerns through this petition, we aim to compel the relevant authorities to take concrete steps to address this pressing issue,” said Kong, who is also a special assistant to Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen.

He also urged MPP to take swift action to address the issue and prevent potential accidents and injuries. — DayakDaily
