KUCHING, Nov 28: Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) will upgrade facilities at Trombol Beach to provide comfort to visitors.

Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (DBKU and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said among the facilities to be developed are roads leading to the beach, space for hawkers and a parking lot, toilets and garbage bins.

“The beach needs to be complemented with basic facilities because it is a big tourist attraction, especially on weekends.

“This beach is very suitable for family activities. So we bring MPP (into the picture) to find the best approach to develop public facilities,” he said during the Trombol Beach Cleanup Programme organised by MPP today.

Dr Abdul Rahman who is also the Assistant Minister of Utilities (Water Supply)-cum-Pantai Damai incumbent explained that people who visit the beach also need to always maintain cleanliness and safety.

“If possible, bring a plastic bag (to throw garbage) to keep this beautiful beach clean.

“The cleanliness of this beach is important in order to continue to attract the public, including foreign tourists,” he said.

With today’s cleanup programme, he hoped more people would be encouraged to take care of the beach.
