KUCHING, Jan 27: Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has reminded business operators to conduct thorough cleaning and sanitisation of their premises on a daily basis to curb the spread of Covid-19.

MPP chairman Lo Khere Chiang emphasised that sanitisation was crucial especially for places identified as having been exposed to Covid-19 as listed by the Ministry for Local Government and Housing.

“It is a good move by SDMC (State Disaster Management Committee) to release the locations of exposure (places visited by positive cases) as this helps to increase the awareness of the general public.

“This may lead to a high number of detection due to self-awareness as people will come forward to get tested when they learn they could have been exposed,” he told a press conference after a full council meeting via Zoom today.

Lo also called on the public to have resolve and improve self-discipline in the fight against Covid-19.

“The battle of Covid-19 is yet to be over as Sarawak has been recording three-digit (number of) cases in recent weeks with the death toll now standing at 33.

“Always remember to wear a face mask, practise physical distancing, wash hands frequently or use hand sanitisers and those with symptoms should seek medical treatment immediately,” he advised.

Everybody, he reiterated, must play their part and comply with the standard operating procedure (SOP) so as to break the chain of infections, flatten the curve and keep Sarawak safe.

“We must be responsible citizens of Sarawak. We are the frontliners who must protect ourselves, families and communities at large,” he added. — DayakDaily
