KUCHING, Aug 12: Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) will continue to take stern action against businessmen who refuse to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) to combat Covid-19 despite Sarawak’s green-zone status.

Among MPKS’ efforts to keep everybody on the alert will be a public re-briefing for businessmen and traders of Bandar Riyal Market will be held on Aug 17, 2020 (Sunday).

MPKS chairman Datuk Peter Minos said that although Sarawak had become a green zone, all areas in MPKS will practice SOPs until the Covid-19 pandemic is over.

“We in MPKS and Samarahan are certainly feeling relieved and happy that we are now back to green zone. It was not good being categorised as yellow zone and worst, red zone as previously.

“Green or not, we in MPKS still want everyone in Samarahan to listen and abide by Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) rules and SOP, in particular with the wearing of face masks, observing of physical distancing and regular hand washing. Follow (the SOP) till Covid-19 is dead and gone.

“For the business people, we repeatedly tell them to take temperatures of clients and customers, their handphone numbers and names. Hand sanitisers must be ready and not empty and temperature equipment must be working.

“All these are a must. The authorities will hit hard those who are stubborn and recalcitrant,” said Minos in a press statement today.

“We will tell the public in Samarahan not to be complacent but be aware that the war against Covid-19 is not yet over. This must be impressed upon on the public and we in MPKS will do our part to the best we possibly can,” said Minos.—DayakDaily
