KUCHING, Aug 24: Transport Sarawak (MOTS) Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin has led a delegation from his ministry to maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) centres in Subang and Sepang, Selangor, in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of the aviation business and industry.
According to a MOTS press release issued today, the delegation visited Malaysia’s key MRO centres from Aug 22 to Aug 23, including Asia Digital Engineering Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of Capital A Berhad, formerly known as AirAsia Group Berhad), National Aerospace and Defence Industries Sdn Bhd (NADI), and MAB Engineering Services Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of Malaysia Aviation Group) to delve deeper into the aviation operations and investigate various aspects of aircraft maintenance and repair services.
“By engaging with the prominent players in the industry, MOTS is poised to enhance knowledge and capabilities in this crucial sector, where the delegation received detailed insights into the diverse range of MRO services and operations.
“Additionally, the delegation was also given the tour to facilities and hangars, providing first hand exposure to MRO operations,” as stated in the press release.
MOTS went on to say that the visit holds particular significance considering Sarawak’s prior aspirations to establish a boutique airline.
“By engaging with these MRO centres, the delegation takes a decisive step towards realising these ambitions, fostering growth and expertise from the local aviation players.”
It continued stating that MOTS is looking forward to more engagements and collaborations with aviation industry players, building on the valuable insights gained from the productive MRO visits.
“This experience sets the stage for future advancements and partnerships that will contribute to the continued development of Sarawak’s aviation landscape,” MOTS remarked.
The delegation comprised of MOTS (Aviation and Road) deputy minister Datuk Jerip Susil; MOTS advisor Dr Lawrence Tseu Sed Kong; Economic Planning Unit (EPU) Sarawak director Lester Matthew; MOTS Aviation Technical advisor Sio Yew Hua; MOTS head of Aviation Zulkarnain Rosli and several other senior officers. — DayakDaily
