Motorcyclist killed after collision with car at Jalan Batu Kawa-Jalan Ketitir traffic light

KUCHING, March 21: A motorcyclist died in an accident after colliding with a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) at the Jalan Batu Kawa-Jalan Ketitir traffic light intersection here around 12.30am today.

Padawan police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad identified the victim who died as Anthony Hiu Kuet Boo, 53, from Jalan Arang.

“Preliminary investigations found that a motorcyclist travelling from the direction of MJC suddenly turned into Jalan Ketitir causing him to be hit by an MPV travelling straight from the direction of Kuching to MJC.

“The impact of the accident caused the motorcyclist to be thrown onto the road and then dragged to the left shoulder of the road.

“The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Sarawak General Hospital paramedics,” he said in a statement today.

According to Abang Zainal, preliminary investigations determined that the accident was caused by the motorcyclist who ran a red light on his route.

Further investigations are still being conducted under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
