SIBU, Jan 19: A motorcyclist was killed in a road accident at Kwang Ann Road in Sibu earlier today.
In the 1.15am incident, the victim, Slyvester Saley Ukol, aged 41, was believed to have skidded and fallen on the left side of the road.
Head of Sarawak traffic investigation and enforcement department, Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the initial investigation found that the victim was on his way from Sungai Merah market and was heading towards the town centre when he lost control of his motorbike.
“The victim suffered severe head injuries and was confirmed dead by paramedics from Sibu hospital at the scene. His body had been sent to the Sibu hospital mortuary for further action,” said Alexson.
It is understood that the victim is a widower, working as a general worker at an aluminium supplier company in Teku.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
