MIRI, March 25: Miri police have mobilised all units, including the police dog (K9) unit and Miri General Operation Force (GOF), in the manhunt to apprehend the suspects responsible for armed robberies in Ocean Park and Hilltop Garden.

Both incidents happened on March 21, said Miri OCPD ACP Alexson Naga Chabu when met today after attending a function to mark the Miri-level Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) 217th anniversary at police headquarters here.

When asked by local media on the possibility that the two robberies might have been committed by the same suspects, Alexson said the police are gathering evidence and following leads to determine if the robberies were indeed carried out by them.

“We are working to analyse the evidence and gather information to establish a connection between the two robbery cases and identify any potential suspects,” he disclosed.

The police believe that there are three suspects involved in these two incidents.

“The suspects appear to be specifically targeting houses with fewer safety features in order to carry out burglaries,” Alexson revealed.

On March 21, two armed robbery cases were reported in Miri City, with the first involving a house at Hilltop Garden, and the second at Ocean Park.

“There were six occupants in the first house at Hilltop Garden, and two people—a 70-year-old grandmother and her 10-year-old grandson—in a house at Ocean Park. All of them were tied up during the intrusions,” said Alexson.

Meanwhile, the police are asking the public to remain calm as the police are working to apprehend the suspects. — DayakDaily
