KUCHING, April 28: Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS) must continue to help elevate and strengthen the role of Dayak women in education and entrepreneurship, says Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi.

Rundi, who is Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, said as a platform, SIDS should also be exemplary to others.

“SIDS members can play the role of guiding other Dayak women to help elevate them which will enable them to contribute towards the region’s economy,” he said during the SIDS Fellowship Dinner held at a local hotel here yesterday.

He also reminded that Dayak women should portray a good image that reflects their community.

“Do not be arrogant. Learn to be appreciative and acquire knowledge from others who have come before us,” he added.

During the ceremony, Dr Rundi also launched a book detailing the history of SIDS since its formation in 1950.

Among those present were Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu, Pakan assemblyman Tan Sri William Mawan Ikon, SIDA advisor Tan Sri Empiang Jabu, SIDS president Dato Alice Jawan Empaling and other distinguished guests. — DayakDaily
