MFF to hold webinar on ‘Film & Art Organisations in a Post-Pandemic Future: What’s Next?’

MFF will hold a webinar on “Film and Art Organisations in A Post-Pandemic Future: What's Next?” on April 22 (Friday).

KOTA SAMARAHAN, April 18: The Mini Film Festival (MFF), organised by the Cinematography Programme under the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts, Universiti Sarawak Malaysia (Unimas), will be holding its second webinar featuring international panellists comprised of artistic directors in film and art events to shed light on ‘Film and Art Organisations in A Post-Pandemic Future: What’s Next?’.

The webinar will be broadcasted through Webex and MFF’s Facebook page at 10am on April 22 (Friday).

To understand the impacts brought forth by Covid-19 and how arts and film event organisers can better prepare for a resilient post-pandemic future, the Mini Film Festival has invited an ensemble of international panellists from diverse art industries and countries to discuss the matter in its MFF Webinar 2.

Among them are Yeoh Jun-Lin (Rainforest World Music Festival), Sanchai Chotirosseranee (Thai Film Archive, Thai Short Film & Video Festival), Camelia Yeung (Former Coordinator of Outreach Programme, Hong Kong Arts Festival), and Robert Quinlan (Associate Artistic Director of the Illinois Shakespeare Festival).

Jun Lin is a music festival director. She is the chairperson of the Sarawak Music Society, artistic and production director for the Rainforest World Music Festival, Borneo Jazz Festival, Genting International Jazz Festival, the original Penang World Music Festival, showcase programmer for WOMEX 2016 in Spain, and sits on the board of MusiConnect Asia, a global network for the music industry.

The second panellist, Sanchai, is the deputy director of Thailand’s Film Archive (Public Organisation). He is part of the executive council of the Southeast Asia Fiction Film Lab (SEAFIC) and is also one of the programmers of the Thai Short Film and Video Festival, Salaya International Documentary Film Festival, and Silent Film Festival in Thailand.

Meanwhile, Camelia is a seasoned art administrator and arts marketer with over a decade of experience producing arts and outreach programmes. In 2019 she launched No Limits, a Hong Kong Arts Festival project, creating a barrier-free environment to explore and promote inclusiveness and understanding through the arts.

Quinlan from the United States is the Associate Artistic Director at Illinois Shakespeare Festival (U.S.A.). He has directed ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, ‘Macbeth’, ‘As You Like It’, ‘Richard the Second’, and ‘King Lear’.

He is also the head of the MFA Directing Program at Illinois State University. Other directing credits include productions with Taproot Theatre (Seattle), Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre, First Stage Milwaukee, Fifth House Ensemble, and the Tennessee Williams Festival.
