KUCHING, Dec 20: The family member of a young man, allegedly found dead in the carpark of an apartment at Jalan Tun Jugah last Monday, is suspecting foul play in the death of his brother.

Urgently seeking justice, the family member lodged a police report yesterday (Dec 19) to implore for a thorough investigation.

The desperate sibling also approached Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) president Voon Lee Shan for help, especially in facilitating effective communication with law enforcement authorities to expedite the apprehension of the suspected perpetrator.

According to the police report, the 26-year-old complainant disclosed that his elder brother was pronounced dead at the scene on Dec 18, 2023, at 6.51am, with the case initially classified as sudden death.

However, he claimed that his brother was murdered by being forced to leap from the apartment.

The suspicion arose after the complainant read a message on WhatsApp from an individual named Mandy, a Chinese national woman. He alleged that Mandy had, in the conversation, coerced his brother into jumping from the fourth floor of the apartment.

The police report filed by the sibling of the deceased as provided by Voon in his statement on Dec 20, 2023.

Voon has urged the police not to delay their investigation, especially in locating and apprehending the foreign suspect, with information provided by the family member.

He also highlighted the complexity of the case, involving syndicate crimes related to bank cards, money laundering as well as drug abuse among youths.

“One of the suspects is believed to be a foreigner, and if she leaves the country, the possibility of having her arrested will be slim. Police can complete their investigation but it will be a wasted effort if arrest cannot be made,” said Voon in a statement today.

He also expressed frustration with the attitude of a senior police officer in charge of serious crimes in the Kuching Police District who declined to speak to him about the case when contacted.

“I wanted to seek his help to see the deceased’s family to get information of the whereabouts of the suspects because they know where the suspects are hiding,” he said.

Voon emphasised that police officers should not avoid calls from the public as an investigation into a crime would not be effective without prompt information from citizens.

“I have a public duty to ensure that the case is properly investigated with speed. The police cannot delay any investigation which could hinder the pursuit of justice and information of a crime must be relayed to the police immediately to assist,” he added.

Meanwhile, acting Kuching District Police Chief Supt Merbin Lisa had confirmed the case was classified as sudden death while investigation is still ongoing. — DayakDaily
