KUCHING, Sept 9: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed deep sadness over the Flying Doctor Service (PDU) helicopter crash near Long Lellang which claimed the lives of four Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel and a pilot yesterday afternoon.

According to a post on his official Facebook page today, Anwar conveyed his and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail’s sympathies to the victims’ families.
“My thoughts and prayers, along with Azizah’s, are with the families of all victims who are going through this very heavy moment. May they be granted strength and fortitude,” he said.
Anwar also called on the public to give space to the grieving families and refrain from speculating on the accident while waiting for verified information.
“I request all parties to give space to the family members and avoid any speculation while awaiting official information from the authorities,” he urged.
Furthermore, he gave an assurance that support will be provided to assist the affected families.
“The government will provide all necessary assistance and support to the families of the victims,” he said.
The tragedy involved a helicopter carrying a pilot, a medical officer, an assistant medical officer, and two nurses who were on official duty to provide healthcare services to remote communities in Sarawak. — DayakDaily
