KUCHING, Sept 9: Financial assistance of RM100,000 will be provided to each family of the Flying Doctor Service (FDS) personnel killed in the helicopter crash near Long Lellang.
According to a statement uploaded on the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) Facebook page today, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg approved the contribution alongside full sponsorship of education fees for the victims’ school-going children through Yayasan Sarawak.
The aid is provided to lighten the financial burden on the families while recognizing the personnel’s dedication to serving remote interior communities unreachable by road.
The State government described the loss of the crew as a major tragedy affecting their families, colleagues and all Sarawakians.
“Their service, dedication, courage, and sacrifice in carrying out their responsibilities for the well-being of the people, especially those in interior areas, are of immense value,” the statement read.
Furthermore, it noted that the medical team’s dedication reflected a commitment to ensuring no Sarawakian is left behind in receiving essential health services.
The State government extended its deepest condolences, sympathy, and solidarity to the bereaved families, offering prayers for strength, fortitude, and patience during this difficult time. — DayakDaily
