MIRI, Sept 9: The parents of Dr Ainul Baraah Kamarudin, who was among the victims of the Long Lellang helicopter crash, arrived in Miri this afternoon carrying several of their daughter’s personal belongings, including a hairbrush and toothbrush, to facilitate the identification process through deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) testing.
According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Dr Ainul’s father, Kamarudin Salleh, 69, arrived at Miri Airport at 1.10pm with his wife, Rogayah Mohd Noor, 69, and their eldest daughter, Ainul Husna, 40.
The family had departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2 at 10.30am today, with their flight arrangements made by Layang-Layang Aerospace.
Kamarudin said the police had asked the family to bring personal belongings previously used by Dr Ainul to assist in the DNA identification process.

“The flight arrangements for our family to Miri were made by Layang-Layang Aerospace. Insya-Allah, my family and I were scheduled to depart for Miri at 10.30am today from KLIA2,” he told Bernama.
On funeral arrangements, Kamarudin said no decision had been made yet, adding that the matter would be discussed with his in-laws and Dr Ainul’s husband, Muhammad Faiz Abdul Malik.
He said the family was currently focused on making the necessary arrangements following the tragedy.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), in a statement yesterday, said a BO-105 helicopter carrying five people, including the pilot, crashed near the Long Lellang Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) port in Ulu Baram, about 929 kilometres from Kuching.
The helicopter, which departed from Miri, was conducting a Flying Doctor Service (FDS) operation at the time of the incident.
It was operated by a pilot and carried a medical officer, an assistant medical officer (PPP) and two nurses, all of whom were on official duty.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah is expected to hold a press conference at 4.30pm today at Miri Airport. — DayakDaily
