KUCHING, Oct 13: A Kuching Water Board deputy general manager was remanded for seven days to facilitate an MACC investigation into alleged corruption which occurred between the year 2015 and 2018.
The 57-year-old suspect was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Oct 12 and was brought before the Magistrate’s Court here today for remand application.
Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi granted the MACC’s request to remand the suspect for seven days until Oct 20.
The suspect allegedly received RM36,100 from a contractor as an inducement to facilitate and speed up the payment of claims for construction work which had been completed.
The case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Act 2009. — DayakDaily
