Police inspector ordered to enter defence for murder of girlfriend

A prima facie case is established against the accused.

KUCHING, Oct 13: The High Court here ordered a police inspector to enter his defence on charges of killing his girlfriend three years ago.

Judge Christopher Chin Soo Yin made the decision after finding that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against the accused and set November 9 and 10 for the defence trial.


Mohammad Sohffian Abu Hassan, 40, was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for allegedly killing Siti Nadrah Abdullah, 33, in Kampung Kakai, Serian, at about 3.15pm on May 21, 2017.

It was reported that after shooting the victim, the accused fled the scene in a police car and was arrested by police in front of Emart Supermarket in Matang, Kuching.

Section 302 of the Penal Code carries a mandatory death sentence, upon conviction.

Mohammad Sohffian was attached to a police station in the sub-district of Belaga in Kapit at the time of the incident.

DPP Musli Abdul Hamid appeared for the prosecution while the accused was represented by counsel CM Sundram. — DayakDaily
