Kuching continues to lead in daily cases as Sarawak records 499 Covid-19 infections

KUCHING, Nov 6: Sarawak recorded 499 Covid-19 cases today with Kuching continuing to see a triple-digit increase in daily infections with 128 cases.

This brought the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak to 244,114.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily update on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, reported that of the new cases, 16 cases have severe symptoms or are in critical condition.


There are five patients under Category 3 with pneumonia, 10 patients under Category 4 with pneumonia and required oxygen support and only one patient under Category 5 with pneumonia and required ventilator support.

There are 145 cases under Category 1 without symptoms and 338 cases under Category 2 with mild symptoms.

As for the breakdown of cases, the districts that recorded double-digit cases are Miri with 65 cases, followed by Limbang (40), Bintulu (38), Lawas (33), Sibu (30), Serian (29), Samarahan (14), Dalat (13), Mukah (11), while Kapit, Lundu and Bau has 10 cases each.

Other districts that reported new cases are Sarikei and Daro (9 cases each); Betong (8 cases); Tatau (5 cases); Meradong and Asajaya (4 cases each); Pusa, Sri Aman, Belaga Subis and Selangau (3 cases each), Matu and Telang Usan (2 cases each); while Simunjan, Kanowit, Marudi, Tebedu, Kabong, Lubok Antu, Saratok, Bukit Mabong, Pakan and Sebauh has one case each.

Four districts namely Julau, Song, Beluru and Tanjung Manis did not record any new cases today.

Sarawak also confirmed 19 Covid-19 fatalities including seven brought-in-dead (BID) cases between Oct 23 and Nov 5, bringing the death toll in the State to 1,436.

There are no new clusters reported today, while SDMC has declared the end of the Duras Cluster in Serian after no new cases were reported in the past 28 days.
