Kuching and Lundu record over one hundred cases each among today’s 363 new Covid-19 cases

KUCHING, July 15: Kuching and Lundu districts are leading the daily Covid-19 count with over a hundred cases each among the 363 new cases reported today.

According to reports by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), Kuching recorded 137 and Lundu 120 cases in the most recent 24-hour period.


Other districts that saw double-digit gains in new infections were Sibu (21), Subis (14) and Kapit (11).

The remaining districts reporting new cases were Miri (8), Samarahan (8), Meradong (8), Serian (7), Bintulu (5), Sarikei (5), Mukah (5), Beluru (5), Betong (2), Asajaya (2), Bau (1), Tebedu (1), Bukit Mabong (1), Tatau (1) and Selangau (1).

With this, SDMC said, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak now stands at 70,228.

“Out of the 363 patients today, 167 were detected following close contact screenings where nine of them were symptomatic.

“Another 145 cases were individual screenings from active clusters where six showed signs and symptoms of Covid-19 infection.

“Adding on, there were 25 cases that were symptomatic screenings from health facilities, 24 cases were from other screenings in health facilities, and two Import-B cases who came from Kuala Lumpur,” it said in its Covid-19 update today.

Meanwhile, the committee also reported four new deaths from Covid-19 today, bringing theState’s death toll to 443.

The four victims were aged between 35 to 78-years-old, with three reported in Sibu and one in Kapit.

The 50-year-old male victim in Kapit had no comorbidities while the other three had histories of hypertension, obesity gout, diabetes, dyslipidemia, cancer, heart disesase and stroke.

Today, 1,628 patients were discharged from hospitals across Sarawak. Thus, there are still 5,507 active cases that remain in isolation or are being treated. — DayakDaily
