KUCHING, Apr 19: ‘Kasi DAP telur!’—this was said by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian in calling for Sarawakians to emulate Sabah and vote out the Democratic Action Party (DAP) in the upcoming State election.

“In 2025, what did Sabah do? They followed Sarawak. So, Sarawak, in 2026, what do we need to do? Follow Sabah—kasi DAP telur (give DAP zero seats)!” he said in his speech at the 2026 Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Convention held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here today.

In last year’s Sabah election, DAP lost all eight seats it contested—Tanjung Aru, Kapayan, Likas, Luyang, Sri Tanjong, Elopura, Tanjung Papat, and Kemabong.

This marked the first time since 2004 that DAP will have no representation in the Sabah Legislative Assembly.

Dr Sim, who is also the Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government and the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) president, further called on delegates—and Sarawakians as a whole—to stay together and remain united.

“In 2018, we (GPS coalition parties) formed and have stayed together until today. SUPP and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) have been trusted partners since 1970, and later on, Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) joined.”

He also urged Sarawakians to share good news on what the State government has done.

“It is often bad news that goes viral, but when it comes to good news, everyone diam-diam saja (keeps quiet),” said Dr Sim.

“Like our students, when they receive RM1,200 pocket money, all diam-diam saja, maybe in case their parents cut their pocket money—semua pandai-pandai ini adik-adik (our students are smart),” he further quipped.

He also urged Sarawakians to continue supporting GPS, citing the next five years as critical for Sarawak’s nation-building.

“It is very critical—the best of Sarawak is coming, so just wait, we’re almost there. The next five years will be the best of Sarawak we’ve ever had,” he said. — DayakDaly
