Kapit boat tragedy: Wife of missing police officer’s social media posts reflect anguish as search continues

Search and rescue efforts are still ongoing for the remaining victim of the Kapit boat tragedy.

KUCHING, March 13: As the search for missing police officer Iskandar Ibrahim persists, his wife, Anis Nur Ezzati, continues to share heartfelt posts on social media, expressing her steadfast hope for his safe return.

Despite the lack of recent updates on her Facebook page as of noon today, Anis’s previous posts reflect her unwavering faith and longing for her husband.

In a post made yesterday, she wrote, “Hari ke-6, saya masih setia tunggu awok b (suami)” (“Day 6, I am still faithfully waiting for you (her husband)”).

Two days prior, she shared, “Takde rezeki lagi nak jumpa awak hari ni tapi takpe sayang akan tunggu b okay Iskandar Zulkarnain” (“I don’t have the fortune to see you today, but it is okay my beloved, I will wait for you okay Iskandar Zulkarnain”).

Anis’s poignant messages have garnered attention from netizens, who shared their sympathy and offer prayers for her husband’s safe return.

The ordeal began on March 7 when Iskandar, along with another police officer, Sergeant Jonathan Lambet, were escorting explosives for a road construction project in Baleh.

Their boat, carrying three other victims, sank in Batang Baleh near the Lepong Baleh National School jetty.

While one victim was rescued by a member of the public on the day of the incident, the bodies of the other three victims were found by search and rescue (SAR) teams on March 9.

Amidst the tragic loss of the other victims, the search for Iskandar continues.

Search and rescue teams from the Sarawak State Fire and Rescue Department remain dedicated to locating him, providing a glimmer of hope for Anis and her family amidst their anguish. — DayakDaily
