KUCHING, June 12: A new community cluster of 33 confirmed Covid-19 cases so far has broken out at Kampung Tabuan Haji Drahman.

According to the reports by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today, the spread of the Kampung Tabuan Haji Drahman Cluster was caused by close contact between family members and social interactions between residents in the area.

A total of 62 individuals including family members and close contacts were screened, where the authorities recorded 33 positive cases and 29 negative cases.

As of today, there are zero samples awaiting laboratory test results.

Meanwhile, SDMC assured that all positive cases have been admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and the Kuching Low-risk Treatment and Quarantine Centre (PKRC) for isolation and treatment purposes.

The Kampung Tabuan Haji Drahman Cluster was one out of three new clusters declared today.

The first two were also community clusters but found to be caused by social gatherings during the Gawai celebrations, with one reported in Lundu and the other in Kapit.

With the Penurin Cluster in Betong expiring today after reporting zero cases in the past 28 days, Sarawak is now left with 82 active clusters. — DayakDaily
