‘Kampua mee’ seller loses gold necklace in gang robbery

CCTV footage showing the two suspects

SIBU, Sept 18: A ‘kampua mee’ seller has her gold necklace snatched away believed to be by two fat-and-thin gang members on Sept 16.

The fat-and-thin gang had previously being arrested for similar crimes around town.

According to the 65-year-old victim, surnamed Tang, she had just come back to her home on a motorcycle at Jalan Ek Dee from her noodle stall at the central market at 12.15pm last Wednesday when the incident happened.

“I was about to open the house gate when suddenly two youths on a red motorcycle showed up. One of them, who is quite fat, grabbed and snatched my gold necklace away while the other thin guy waited for him,” she said.

They were aged about in their 30s, she recalled.

The woman did not sustain any injury but suffered a loss of RM1,500.

Meanwhile her opposite neighbour’s CCTV has captured the two suspects speeding away after committing the alleged crime.

When contacted, Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit confirmed the victim had lodged a police report on the incident.

He, however, said as the suspects were wearing motorcycle helmets and face mask, the victim could not see their faces. She also did not know the plate number of the motorcycle.

The case is investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery.-DayakDaily
