KUCHING, July 19: A man and a woman aged between 19 and 25 were arrested by the police for their suspected involvement in a robbery that caused injuries at Jalan Canna here on Saturday (July 18).
In a statement, Kuching District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the two suspects were arrested at about 1.05am during an operation carried out by a team from the Criminal Investigation Division (BSJD) of the Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD), with the assistance of the D9 Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) at the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK), at Jalan Satok.
He said the swift police action enabled both suspects to be apprehended within 24 hours of the incident.
“Urine screening tests found both suspects to be negative for drugs. Criminal record checks also revealed that the male suspect has one previous criminal record for the offence of voluntarily causing grievous hurt.
“Both suspects have been remanded for five days to assist in further investigations,” he said in a statement today.
The case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery.
