KUCHING, Oct 27: Julau incumbent Datuk Larry Sng denies that there has been a mutiny to remove him from Parti Bangsa Malaysia’s (PBM) top post.

When asked if there was such an issue within the party, he stressed that there was no clash between him and president designate Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin.

He further pointed out that any major changes to be made in the party should be constitutional before insisting that he is still the president of the party.

“There is no mutiny as such in the party and I just want to reiterate that, as I have said before, that there is no clash between me and Zuraidah and everything we do in the party must be done in accordance with the constitution of the party. That is first and foremost.

“As far as the records are concerned, I am still the recognised president in PBM,” Sng told DayakDaily when contacted today.

When pressed further if such a notion was accepted by the party as a whole, Sng said, ”That is the record of the Registrar of Society (ROS)”.

On the party’s inaugural general meeting on Oct 1, 2020 where Zuraida was “elected” as party president, Sng explained that it was just a general assembly and not a party election.

“A few motions have been passed but it does not amount to the sacking or appointment of Zuraida. That was not what happened during the meeting,” said Sng.

He continued to point out that it has been wrong for the media to address Zuraida as “president” of the party as “it is something that can be contested” and he stressed with certainty that he will still be the one who signs the watikah (candidate appointment letter) for the party.

“I am very sure I am the one signing the watikah. I have all the documents in order and also I have already checked with all the authorities on this matter as well,” said Sng.

Regarding the recent news report by the Chinese press stating that there were several local parties interested to field him as candidate and that he might even leave PBM to join one of the local parties, Sng again claimed that it could be a “misunderstanding due to the language barrier”.

“What I mentioned (to the Chinese press) was that, there were several parties who were interested in asking me to contest under their logos.

“At the moment in time, I have not resigned nor have I relinguished my position to join any party as such. And I have decided to use PBM as my party of choice in this coming election.

“I am sticking to PBM. I am the president of PBM. Why should I waver on this issue?” Sng said. — DayakDaily
