KUCHING, June 6: Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing says Lubok Antu MP Jugah Muyang’s decision to leave PKR to join PN and GPS was the right thing to do for his constituents.

“Jugah Muyang’s move to join PN and GPS was done in exercising his rights as enshrined in Article 10 of the Federal Constitution, which is the freedom of association,” said the president of
Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS).

“The questions we need to ask are these: Did he move to the right political organisation? What was the rationale of his move?

“Jugah explained that he needed to move to the govt of the day so that he would be in a better position to assist in developing Lubok Antu.

“It was based on this pledge, I believe, he stood as a candidate for Lubok Antu during the last general election (GE14). Therefore, he remains true to his pledge of giving better life to his constituents if elected,” Masing said today.

Masing reiterated that since Lubok Antu was a PRS seat, he also welcomed Jugah to his party.

“Of course, I would welcome him to PRS. Lubok Antu was our seat, in the first place. It makes it easier for me to decide on who to nominate come PRN15 (15th general election),” said Masing.

Masing was commenting on Jugah’s decision to leave PKR yesterday to pledge his support for the PN-led federal government under Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and GPS-led state government under Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg so as to enable him to bring development to his constituents in Lubok Antu.

Meanwhile, Masing said he could not see any good reason for Selangau MP Baru Bian and Sri Aman MP Datuk Masir Kujat in joining Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), which is an opposition party.

“However, Baru Bian’s and Masir Kujat’s rationale of joining PSB, was faulty and doesn’t hold water because PSB has no real intentions nor agendas of developing rural areas.

“PSB is in no position to assist anybody, except the party hoppers, as they don’t have any authority, nor the resources to help the people of Sarawak,” said Masing.

Masing opined that Baru should have remained in PKR and continued to support former PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali as he has been with his group all along.

“Baru remained in PKR after GE14 was correct and honourable as he was given the ministerial position to assist his voters.

“Being in PSB and in Tun Dr Mahathir’s group was a move in a wrong direction. He should have maintained his support with Azmin group and stayed with the group and remained useful to those who voted him in.

“I believe the so-called ‘intelligent frog’ jumped to support Dr Mahathir in the last minute, was the wrong jump to a wrong pond,” added Masing.—DayakDaily
