JPJ cracks down on illegally parked heavy vehicles in Sibujaya

A JPJ enforcement officer issues a warning notice as part of the operation to curb illegal parking by heavy vehicles.

SIBU, March 4: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has initiated action against heavy vehicles for illegal parking in Sibujaya.

It had recently issued a warning notice to a total of 11 heavy vehicles for illegal parking.

According to a spokesman from the Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC), the notice was issued as part of an integrated operation to deal with the problem of heavy vehicles parking illegally in residential areas and along the road in Sibujaya.

“The agencies involved in the operation are the police, JPJ, the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP) and SRDC,” the spokesman revealed.

He said that the notice issued was in the form of a warning or a final warning to those concerned.

According to him, fines will be imposed if the owners are caught for the second time in the next operation. There will be no further compromise for those who have received the notice.

“The council reminds residents who work as drivers of these heavy vehicles or those who stop by not to park their vehicles on the road shoulder as it is an offence to do so,” he stressed.

According to him, the council had previously received numerous complaints from residents regarding the matter.

He said, apart from being an offence, the act of parking a vehicle illegally can also invite danger to other road users.

“It can cause visibility to be obstructed and accidents and so on can occur if this matter is not curbed early,” he said. — DayakDaily
