KUCHING, Nov 26: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng urges citizens to emulate Japan’s civic-mindedness, portrayed in the recent FIFA World Cup.

He said that after celebrating their win over Germany, the Japan team had cleaned up and left their dressing room spotless, which was later tweeted by FIFA and gained global praise.

“This is a culture widely practised in Japan. So, I hope that our citizens could learn from them,” he said during his weekly ShallWeeTalk Facebook live session today.

Wee reprimanded those who took to discard bulky trash in open spaces or by the roadside and not at proper dump sites.

“You have to know that this affects our cityscape. So please don’t let tourists or foreign visitors think that we are uneducated people who still live on trees,” he urged.

Wee warning against illegal dumping of the bulky trash in open spaces.

To the culprits, he asserted that the council could penalise them and even bring them to court if caught. — DayakDaily
